Error: <path>:\ is not accessible opening mapped network drive due to password.
Error:
<path>:\ is not accessible. The specified network password is not correct.
Cause:
The shared resource to which the network drive is mapped is password-protected and the 'Save This Password' option is not enabled. 'Quick Logon' has also been enabled on the 'Client For Microsoft Network' property sheet.
Solution:
Double-click the 'Network Neighborhood' icon, remap the drive and check 'Reconnect at Logon'. Double-click the 'Networks' icon in 'Control Panel' and enable 'Logon and restore network connections'.
1) Re-map the network drive:
a) Double-click the 'Network Neighborhood' icon on the desktop. (The computers in your workgroup appear in the 'Network Neighborhood' window.)
'Network Neighborhood'
'Entire Network'
b) If the computer on which the shared resource is located belongs to your workgroup:
1] Double-click the icon of the computer containing the shared resource. (The '<computer name>' dialog box appears, listing shared folders, where <computer name> is the name of the computer containing the shared resource.)
2] Right-click the shared folder you want to map, and select 'Map Network Drive...' from the pop-up menu. (The 'Map Network Drive' dialog box appears.)
3] From the 'Drive' drop-down list box, select the drive letter you want to map to the selected shared resource.
4] (Optional) Select the 'Reconnect at logon' check box to connect to the mapped drive every time you log on to Windows.
NOTE: If this option is not selected, then the connection to the mapped drive will be terminated when you exit Windows.
5] Click 'OK'.
c) If the computer where the shared resource is located is not a member of your workgroup:
NOTE: If the computer is not listed in the 'Network Neighborhood' window, then the computer does not belong to your workgroup.
1] Double-click the 'Entire Network' icon. (The 'Entire Network' window appears, listing the domains and workgroups that are on your network.)
NOTE: A Windows 95 computer cannot use 'Entire Network' to browse for a remote computer located on a different subnet, or on the far side of a router. You must use the NET USE command to connect to the remote resource.
2] Double-click the icon of the domain or workgroup that contains the computer on where the shared resource is located. (The '<domain>' dialog box appears, listing the computers which are members of that domain.)
3] Double-click the icon of the computer containing the shared resource. (The '<computer name>' dialog box appears, listing shared folders, where <computer name> is the name of the computer containing the shared resource.)
